250hz Filter - Audio drops

Chester Alderman
This is driving me crazier!
My narrow filter is 250hz (FL4). FL4 cuts in when I change my DSP filtering
to 250 hz, as it should. FL4 stays in as I make DSP more narrow, all the way
to 50 hz.
The problem is that when I change DSP from 150hz to 100hz or to 50hz, my
audio output seems to drop tremendously, to the point I have to increase the
AF gain to hear the intended signal. The audio does not come back to
'normal' level until I change DSP from above 100hz bandwidth.
I have FL4 set for 2dB gain; FL4 FRQ set to 0.00.
Would appreciate any suggestions to fix this as I hope it is not 'normal'
operation?

This bit me a few months ago: You probably have RX EQ boosted, and this is
disabled for 100/50 Hz DSP filltering.

I don't see that behavior here.  Make sure that your SHIFT center
frequency equals your PITCH setting.

Thanks for the three direct responses I have already gotten. My SHIFT center
frequency is set for 540 hz, the same as my Pitch setting. I did have RX EQ
with everything set for 0dB except for 400 and 800 hz, which I have set for
+8 and +16, respectively.

I still have the audio drop with DSP set for either 100 or 50 hz.

Just to be clear: did you try clearing RX EQ so ALL settings are at 0, and then see if you still have the drop in AF output at 50 & 100hz dsp width?  That's what you need to do.

Re: 250hz Filter - Audio drops

Hi Barry,

Yes, I did reset Rx EQ back to zero and it had no affect on the 50hz and
100hz audio drop.

To my (somewhat) surprise, I went back to Rx EQ and made these settings:

50= +10
100= +10
200=   0
400=   0
800=   0
1600=   0
2400= -10
3200= -14

And now, the audio level is constant from across FL3 and FL4! Not sure why,
but this now works.
