Well, I made it through Part II and the rig hears! Had one IC in backwards
(duh) but got it out and back in OK. Two questions: 1. I really can't hear much of a peak, if any when I adjust L34. I am hearing impaired and wear two hearing aids so maybe it's me? 2. I hear signals but sensitivity is quite below my TR7 after adjusting L1 and L2, is this normal with full sensitivity expected after final alignment? I'm having a blast but I'm playing too much hooky from work (I am in sales and work from home) because I can't stay away from the K2! 73, Bill NZ0T _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I can't help with the tech questions but can address the hooky issue. Do what I did, become mildly sick. Sick enough that you really truly don't feel good enough to go to work but well enough that you can sit and watch TV all day. You'll find that sitting and watching TV is as restful as sitting and soldering parts. Just when you feel guilty about all the time you are getting to spend on the rig, stand up and walk around the room. The illness will quickly remind you that you're to sick to go anywhere so you can sit down and continue the kit! - Keith KD1E - - K2 5411 - -----Original Message----- From: Bill Carpenter I'm having a blast but I'm playing too much hooky from work (I am in sales and work from home) because I can't stay away from the K2! _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Bill,
I trust you are not confusing sensitivity with loudness. The K2 is designed for low receive current drain, and as such does not have a powerful audio output amplifier. Sensitivity is the ability to hear extremely weak signals, so pick the weakest signal that you can hear with the TR7 and see if the K2 can also receive that signal. You will likely find that the K2 can hear signals that the TR7 cannot. The L34 adjustment peak is quite broad. If you cannot discern a definite peak, just set the slug 1 1/2 turns in from the top of the can. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > Well, I made it through Part II and the rig hears!
