Hi,
Any chance K3 will be able to have 70 MHz rx/tx ? vy 73 Eric, PA3CEV ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Maybe. We're looking into it.

That would be nice. I raised this question many months ago and don't recall
seeing a reply from Elecraft. My guess is that the bandpass filters won't permit this, but we can hope ! It would require a transverter, such as the K144XV. What I don't know
is whether there would be much demand for a 10-watt 70 MHz transverter, especially given that it would occupy the same location as the K144XV. Another possibility is a dual-band transverter. I can't make any predictions on this right now. 73, Wayne N6KR On May 28, 2011, at 12:43 AM, John Lemay wrote: > That would be nice. Agreed, the demand is not likely to be huge. But there is a growing list of
Countries with access to 4m. Would the existing XV50 transverter lend itself to conversion without a major re-think ? 25w would be better than 10w. I'm sure demand will rise, in PA0 we'll get access end of this year.
No Icom/Kenwood on the market, you can modify an old Yaesu 847 with mediocre results. The fun on 70 MHz for me is sporadic-E propagation. I would like to be able to work E-skip on 70 MHz until the MUF goes up to 144 MHz, so an extra trv would be necessary, I'ld never sacrifice the 144 MHz transverter. It would make K3 stand out from the crowd even more as it already does now. I agree, Eric, it would certainly be nice if the K3 covered 70MHz. As
has been suggested one way of doing it would be to use a modified XV50 external transverter. I believe someone has already produced some mods that enable the XV50 to operate on 70MHz. That would run up to 25W on CW and SSB. 73 de David G4DMP In a recent message, Eric-Jan Wösten <[hidden email]> writes >The fun on 70 MHz for me is sporadic-E propagation. The Dual Band inboard transverter is a great idea! I'm about to start using my second K3 as a mobile rig and that would make an excellent addition to it. By the way I have noticed that the K144XV has labeled 144MHz IF in and out openings. What is implied by that? 73, Tom Amateur Radio Operator N5GE On Sat, 28 May 2011 00:50:47 -0700, Wayne Burdick <[hidden email]> wrote: >It would require a transverter, such as the K144XV. I agree a dual band transverter would be nice Tom but I'm wondering why 2 meters and 4 meters would be an excellent addition? I can see 2 meters but not 4 meters. At least in the foreseeable future here in the US. Just curious that's all. Oh, sorry although I didn't say it, I would want the second band to be 70cm, not 70Mhz.
