Well, ok, so I am a bit late with this... but that let the dust settle a bit from the weekend of activity. And... now we can relax, breath deep, and some of the lucky ones get to go to a couple really nifty hamfests. In the meanwhile, some of the rest of us... will be standing outside... looking up... wondering if.... hmmmm... if only.... and maybe if.... But the truth is in the results, and considering that there were so many QPs this weekend, it was a kick. The results for me? Well.. if the logcheckers don't find a lot wrong, the score won't change a lot.. from.... 222Qs with 47 mults, and a score of 27.9K... but no WAS... even on 3 bands... good golly. (Maybe if.... oh.. oh.. he's back to that again.. ) loook out.. another antenna is about to be born.... *G* But the one's you have must work pretty well? Sure.. but maybe just one or two more would be better? Think she will go along with it? --... ...-- Dale - WC7S in Wy _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail® has ever-growing storage! QRP Dale???
Did you guys have any 10M activity? There was a nice opening to New England on Sunday here. One guy in New Hampshire was shocked I was running QRP SSB and coming in at 5 over S9... didn't last too long. Other than being slow at opening and closing windows, I hopped from CW to SSB to RTTY all weekend with the K3 with great ease. I did have to watch the RF and AF gain when going/coming from RTTY. For some reason, I thought the audio out was not affected by the front panel controls. Had a lot of help from an anonymous fellow from this reflector with some of the RTTY setup details, which is why I like hanging here so much :o) Lotsa K3s in the New England QSO Party, and even a few K2s (mine included). I still enjoy the K2 on CW, just sounds so warm and mellow (no technical references implied). With the K3, I was able to copy individual CW stations virtually on top of each other, which happens a lot in QSO parties... 73, Julius n2wn

Hi, I failed to give credit where credit is very much due... the &qp operation was enmtirely on a K2, at less than 5 watts out, and on 80/40/ es 20 with only wire antennas... yes they are a little longer than the standard dipole... well.. most are. And a vertical. So.. how does this all work? Well.. chalk it up to a K2 that does the yeoman duty, with a rx that allows single signal reception, most of the time... even with a QP that stacks folks. So.. thank you... very much, Wayne and Eric and all the folks that made the K2 happen... and that continue to make Elecraft happen. Yep Julius... qrp... is there any other way....most of the time? *G* --... ...-- Dale - WC7S in Wy > Date: Wed, 6 May 2009 11:11:05 -0700 > From: [hidden email] > To: [hidden email] > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] 7QP whaaahoooo! > > > QRP Dale??? > > Did you guys have any 10M activity? > > There was a nice opening to New England on Sunday here. You were solid here anytime I heard you Dale. nothing wrong with wire antennas, even the "lowly" dipole ;o) Uber short antennas may present more of a challenge, but lotsa great ear's out there. I had a few more problems with the mobiles, but envisioned them in canyons or behind mountains from time to time ;o) (either natural or man made!) QRP continually provides great surprises, lots of fun and a heck of a lot fewer RFI and other problems :o) Definitely easier to move around the world with a lil' QRP rig. I also gave my K3 a pretty good workout in the 7QP. 1370 QSOs and
about 220,000 for a claimed score. 73 de Tom (K7ZZ) On Thu, May 7, 2009 at 6:21 AM, Julius Fazekas <[hidden email]> wrote: > > You were solid here anytime I heard you Dale. > > nothing wrong with wire antennas, even the "lowly" dipole ;o) Uber short antennas may present more of a challenge, but lotsa great ear's out there. > > I had a few more problems with the mobiles, but envisioned them in canyons or behind mountains from time to time ;o) (either natural or man made!) > > QRP continually provides great surprises, lots of fun and a heck of a lot fewer RFI and other problems :o) Definitely easier to move around the world with a lil' QRP rig. > > Cheers, > Julius > > Julius Fazekas > N2WN > > Tennessee Contest Group > http://www.k4ro.net/tcg/index.html > > Tennessee QSO Party: Sunday, 6 Sept 2009 > http://www.tnqp.org/ > > Elecraft K2/100 #4455 > Elecraft K3/100 #366 > > > --- On Wed, 5/6/09, Dale Putnam <[hidden email]> wrote: > >> From: Dale Putnam <[hidden email]> >> Subject: RE: [Elecraft] 7QP whaaahoooo! >> To: [hidden email], "[hidden email]" <[hidden email]> >> Date: Wednesday, May 6, 2009, 2:17 PM >> >> >> >> #yiv457815505 .hmmessage P >> { >> margin:0px;padding:0px;} >> #yiv457815505 { >> font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;} >> >> >> >> Hi, >> >> I failed to give credit where credit is very much >> due... the &qp operation was enmtirely on a K2, at less >> than 5 watts out, and on 80/40/ es 20 with only wire >> antennas... yes they are a little longer than the standard >> dipole... well.. most are.
