Did you exit the menus, turn the radio off and back on again after setting the ATU to AUTO? See page 29 of the owner's manual (C2 revision):

Review all the KXAT3 installation instructions and make certain that
everything is plugged in correctly. The N/A display indicates that there is no communication between the KX3 processor and the processor in the KXAT3. A misplaced connector pin or something of that order is the usual suspect. 73, Don W3FPR On 11/23/2013 9:43 AM, mistymaggie wrote: > Hi, > > I received my KX3 yesterday and I love it--I downloaded the utility and > updated the firmware (see below) > > 07:52:13 Elecraft KX3 Utility Revision 1.13.4.29 > 07:52:13 OS Version 6.2 Build 9200 > 07:52:14 Attempting to contact KX3 on port COM4 at 19200 bit/s > 07:52:14 Attempting to contact KX3 on port COM4 at 9600 bit/s > 07:52:14 Attempting to contact KX3 on port COM4 at 4800 bit/s > 07:52:14 KX3 MCU revision 01.61.
