I'm hoping to add a P3 to one of the two K3s that I currently run in SO2R
configuration. Both K3s are connected to a microHam MK2R+. The RS232 and ACC connectors on both radios are "busy" with both being connected to the MK2R+ . and one with an additional Y-cable that provides band data to a SteppIR controller . and both ACCs providing band data through the MK2R+ and on to band decoders that switch bandpass filters in and out. At least I think so.. because I always have to get out my notes and diagrams to sort things out every time I disconnect/connect or make any changes or adjustments. My question: Will I create any conflicts when I add a P3 to one of the radios? I'm hoping I can just run a cable from the RS232 connector on the K3 to the "xcvr" RS232 P3 connector, and move the cable currently connected to the K3 RS232 to the "PC" RS232 connector on the P3 ... and all will be well and good!? Has anyone with a similar setup been there and done that? I'd rather avoid any unwanted surprises if I can. Comments? That's the correct connection. Set K3, P3, MK2R+ and your logging software all to 38,400 bps to avoid issues with shifting data rates. You may find it more convenient to use the serial port capability of MK2R+ with a TTL to RS-232 converter (see the MK2R+ manual pages 60 - 62) for SteppIR control. 73, ... Thank you very much Joe. The MK2R+ has been running perfectly with the two
K3s ... and I just don't want to upset the cart. 73, Don, N5LZ -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Joe Subich, W4TV Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2013 2:27 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Adding a P3 to a "Busy" K3 RS232 connector? > I'm hoping I can just run a cable from the RS232 connector on the K3 > to the "xcvr" RS232 P3 connector, and move the cable currently > connected to the K3 RS232 to the "PC" RS232 connector on the P3 ... > and all will be well and good!? This should work fine. The P3 is designed to coexist between the K3 and
external s/w on the RS-232 connection in this situation. 73, Eric elecraft.com On 3/20/2013 12:53 PM, Don Butler wrote: > I'm hoping to add a P3 to one of the two K3s that I currently run in SO2R > configuration.
