Is there any news on when the new amplifer/tuner kit is coming out? I tried
to ask Wayne and Eric but do not get responses from either. Tried via the list and direct :( If not, does anyone know of a decent 10-160 SS amp kit a guy can build or good plans to homebrew one? Rich,
I have heard on this reflector recently that the amp was about to go to the Field Testers, so unless some major problem crops up, I would expect it to be announced as available in 4 to 6 weeks. WARNING - I have no 'inside track' on this and I am not one of the Field Testers for the amp (not enough $$$$ in my ham budget <G>), I am making assumptions based on past experiences. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > Is there any news on when the new amplifer/tuner kit is coming > out? How much power in and out you looking for?
If you want an amp for something like a K1 or KX1 there's a kit called the HF Packer that works from 160-10 and really a fine little amplifier! It will deliver 35 watts with about 1.5-2 watts of drive. 73, Sandy W5TVW ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rich McCabe" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Monday, February 13, 2006 2:01 PM Subject: [Elecraft] Amplifier status | Is there any news on when the new amplifer/tuner kit is coming out? Don is a bit off the mark on this one. :-) We're probably closer to
May-June, based on current parts deliveries and production start up work. I have been receiving a flood of requests for info on this project. To be honest, I have have not had the time to answer each one individually. (Were busy here at Elecraft HQ ;-) Instead we have been focusing on getting everything ready for Field Test and production. Both the 800W -and- 1500W versions are up and running. (Listen for me on he air..) We are in the final process of getting all of the certification paperwork into the FCC. (This just covers the usual anti-CB rules: 15 dB or less gain, reach rated power out with at least 50W of drive and no 12-10M out of the box.) I can't post any more details at this time, but I will in the next months as I have more time and concrete details, pricing info etc. 73, Eric WA6HHQ Don Wilhelm wrote: > Rich, > > I have heard on this reflector recently that the amp was about to go to the > Field Testers, so unless some major problem crops up, I would expect it to > be announced as available in 4 to 6 weeks. > > WARNING - I have no 'inside track' on this and I am not one of the Field > Testers for the amp (not enough $$$$ in my ham budget <G>), I am making > assumptions based on past experiences. > > 73, > Don W3FPR > > >> -----Original Message----- >> >> Is there any news on when the new amplifer/tuner kit is coming >> out? Hell, it won't even turn on "out of the box". IT'S A KIT! I bet even the FCC
can figure that one out<g>. Dan / WG4S / K2 #2456 <snip>... and no 12-10M out of the box. </snip> _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. What happened to the much bally-hooed change in rules that were supposed
to end all of this FCC hoo-hah over amplifiers? I thought the NRPM came out forever ago and that it was going to be acted upon soon. Will the new Elecraft amp be same color as the exciter kit line or maybe
business black like the Alpha amp etc and a lot of computers. thanks Al W4abw _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Dan,
That is true only if you purchase the kit - the plan as I recall from Dayton 2005 was to make it available as an assembled amp AND as a kit. From my brief perusal of the amp shown in Wayne's hotel room, the 'kit' construction task may be only a bit more involved than plugging a CPU and cards into a computer motherboard. Again, I have no real information, only guesses (hopefully intelligent guesses <G>). 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > Hell, it won't even turn on "out of the box". IT'S A KIT! Al,
When I saw a prototype at Dayton last year, the amp was in a matte black (anodized?) cabinet, with silk screened front panel. Was this the final color? Only a formal announcement will tell. Wayne had it set up and driven from a K2/100. CW was flowing from the K2's memory through the amp and into a dummy load. The hotel room lights flickered in time with the code. I wondered what the neighbors thought?
