Anyone tried fibermasts.

Tom Arntzen
Hi all!
I wonder if any of you has tried the 33foot fibermast from either Spieth or the MFJ-1910?
How is the quality?
Will it stand up against much water or possible arctic winter clima?
Do they bend a lot?
I plan to put up a battle creek and use a fibemast to support the vertical portion of the antenna.
There will be som stress on the top of the mast due to the horizontally part of the battle creek.
Any reply off list would be much appreciated.
I will post a summary to list to keep BW down.

I have had an MFJ-1910 for a while now for portable setups.  Really like it.
Quality seems good.  The top section is a tad light (about like a fishing pole).
In fact the whole thing is rather like a gigantic collapsable fishing pole.
I use a 33' length of #24 MIL SPEC hookup wire as an antenna and two to four
33' lengths as the radial system laid on the ground 90 degrees apart.
I can get by with two radials in South Louisiana soil and had to use
four in poorer Texas soil (around Belton) to achieve same results with
the QRP rig.
I would NOT use it to support a light dipole unless the top section was collapsed.
(Erected as an "inverted vee"

I do not know. My suggestion would send an e-mail to the vendor and ask.

If you are looking for a heavy duty telescoping pole, look at the ones
offered by K4TMC www.TMastCo.com - these poles are designed to support
windsocks and have a heavier top section than the fishing pole types.  I
have the 32 ft. heavy duty version that I have been pleased with, and
heights up to 40 ft. can be achieved by stacking 2 poles.
