Re: Appreciate user advice.

Kjeld Holm
Dear Gerald,

Whishing lot of fun!

My surgestion 2.8/2.7 kHz for normal operation on SSB and 1.8 or even 1.5
kHz for crowded bands. 400 Hz for digital mode. If you want to spend extra
money 1.0 kHz for digital mode/CW searching the bands.

Best regards

OZ1CCM Kjeld

Subject: [Elecraft] Appreciate user advice.

After finally reaching retirement and waiting for my added retirement bonus
check. I am finally going to get to order my K3. I mainly operate SSB now,
but want to do PSK31 and RTTY as well as keyboard CW. I am wondering what
filters and options most people would recommend. I am going to ask the great
people at Elecraft for their advise also, but wanted to see what guys that
have been using them would recommend. Examples would be DSP, 2nd Receiver,
etc.

I love working DX and rag chew a little. Digital is also one of my favorite
modes.

So with no money restrictions, what would you recommend I get.

Thanks in advance

Gerald - KC6CNN

Gerald,
You could do yourself a favour and order Fred Cady's (KE7X) book, "The
Elecraft K3 Design, Configuration and Operation".   It covers all of this
and also I feel better explains the operation and setup of the K3.  I am not
being critical of the Elecraft manuals but this 280 page book does a better
job.   Fred Cady is a retired professor of EE and knows how to write.   If
you Google KE7X you will find links to help in ordering the book.   I have
purchased one copy for myself and two for close friends.   It is that good
and I have some Scots blood which dislikes profligacy.

PS I am not taking away for whatever advice you may get on the reflector.
