Hi Lyle
I experienced this audio blast for the first time yesterday evening I try to summarize all the facts: It occurs while switching from 80 to 40m 80m was on CW and 40m was on SSB The S-Meter showed maximum signal, but there wasn?t any strong signal Volume control didn?t seem to function Only solution was to throw away my headphone and then switch off the trx. After switching it on again all was functioning normal I?m using fw 3.30 for some weeks now and even for the latest contests but didn?t experience this audio blast before. S/N is 2702 Is there already a solution in the new upcoming fw? -- /*73 de*/ /*Wolfgang DK9VZ*/ [hidden email] <mailto:[hidden email]> <http://dk9vz.com> ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Yes. We're still testing to make sure. The latest field-test revision is 3.40, which also includes several new features. 73, Wayne ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Have you found a configuration(s) that can replicate the audio blast event?
What will be the possibility that it won't occur again as it wasn't anticpated in the release (3.25?) that caused the problem? 73 Elliott WA6TLA ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wayne Burdick" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Cc: <[hidden email]> Sent: Thursday, October 01, 2009 10:38 PM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Audio blast in fw 3.30 >> Is there already a solution in the new upcoming fw? > > Yes. It's an extremely rare side-effect of a transient event, such as a band change or NR on/off, in the presence of specific incoming signal conditions. Effective NR algorithms are particularly susceptible to numeric overrange, and there have been many attempts in the industry, some patented, to prevent it. We changed the DSP initialization sequence during band change (etc.), and also put self-checks in place to limit gain during transients. If they occur, they're now corrected internally, completely transparent to the operator. So far it appears to be working very well. But we sent the code to about 150 early adopters to make sure. 73, Wayne N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Thanks for this post Wayne. Good to know it's working its way up the list -
or rather you're working down it :-) 73 Geoff G3UCK ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wayne Burdick" <[hidden email]> To: "David Pratt" <[hidden email]> Cc: <[hidden email]> Sent: Friday, October 02, 2009 7:17 PM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] MON level for DVR retransmission > No, but this is high on my list. > > (I've given up trying to do everything at once.) > > tnx > Wayne ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
