I set Autoinfo to Auto1 and it did not seem to cause the K3 to send
out RS-232 data without being polled. My impression is that this is what this option was supposed to do. I may be out in left field on this, and if so someone bring me in out of the rain please. :-) I am trying to get the K3 to send data out for the SteppIR antenna to read without having HRD running. There are times when I would like to just peruse the bands without wanting the software running, but have the SteppIR track the frequency. Has anyone done this successfully? -- Stan W5EWA Houston, TX K2/100 SN 4216 K3/100 SN 0690 _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Hi Stan,
At the moment my desktop PC is off but my SteppIR is tracking my K3. I have Autoinfo set to "1". I have a "Y" connector on the RS232 cable going from the K3 to the SteppIR to the PC. I assume you have the SteppIR in "General" mode. On the SteppIR I have mode =KENW and Baud=4800. If you set AI1; and then turn the VFO A knob, hopefully you'll see an IF
packet sent within a second or so of changing the frequency. The initial implementation in an early firmware version spewed data once a second whether anything had changed or not. Now AI1; sends the IF packet only when a frequency setting changes. See the K3 Programmer's Reference for details. You can use the K3 Utility's command tester to observe this behavior. 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Stan Rife Sent: Sunday, June 15, 2008 4:57 PM To: Elecraft Subject: [Elecraft] Autoinfo 1 I set Autoinfo to Auto1 and it did not seem to cause the K3 to send out RS-232 data without being polled.
