Band selection

VE3WDM

Ok folks here is what I would like to do with my K3....set it up so that when I press the number one key I am on the 10 meter bands, press the 2 key 12 meter band and so on up to 80 meters. Is there a way to program this as opposed to up and down band switch?
Thanks in advance.

Sure. First, set CONFIG:MEM 0-9 to PER BAND. Next, switch to 10
meters. Then tap V>M followed by #1. This will assign #1 to 10 meters,
and you can assign up to 9 more bands in this way.

Hi Mike,

In addition to Wayne's post, the K3 Frequency Memory Editor is an excellent tool for this purpose. It's a bit hidden within the Elecraft site. I just found it by going to the main page:
http://www.elecraft.com/
Choose Firmware and S/W in the blue box on the left side and then press K3 and K2 Control and Logging Software. You'll see it at the top of the page.

Congratulations!

I just received shipping confirmation this evening so I expect mine will
be here early next week.

Power of K3/10

ha4zd
In reply to this post by Mike K2MK
Just learnt a new phenomena, the output is 12W on SSB, 5W on CW. All
bands, no power is set per band. Manually setting shows 12watts, actual
is only 5W on CW. SSB is OK. Any thoughts?

Re: Band selection

Almost.  See "MEM 0-9" in the configuration section on page 57 of the D-7
version of the K3 Owner's manual. After you set these up, you can press M->V
and then one of the number keys to navigate to the last-used frequency on a
particular band.

You may find the K3 Frequency Memory Editor a convenient way to set up these
and other memories and save the settings into a file so you can restore them
if you accidentally erase a memory.
