Interesting question, Charles. I just plugged my INTREPID into my K3's
"KEY" jack and got only dits, no dahs. All of my other bugs work properly. All of my bugs - including the INTREPID - work properly when connected to my external keyer (Begali CW Machine) which I use instead of the K3 keyer. So I never noticed this before! Now that I know, I'll have to make time to figure out the wiring because "it bugs me" ;-) 73, Stan WB2LQF On Sat, Oct 20, 2012 at 1:34 AM, chas wrote: > Please can someone tell me how to connect the Begali Intrepid key to > the K3. > > TIA - Charles > ______________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Try plugging it into the Paddle jack.

Pete, if we do that it acts like a paddle ;) It's got to go into the
"Hand" key jack. I just tried it with my K1 in "hand" mode and got the same result as with the K3. And again, my other bugs operated just fine with the K1. There is no problem with the radios. It's the way we've got the INTREPID wired. I'm going to unsolder everything today and figure this out. There's only three wires to play with and I think I know how it works now. Going down to the workbench now. 73, Stan WB2LQF On Sat, Oct 20, 2012 at 8:58 AM, Pete Smith N4ZR wrote: > Try plugging it into the Paddle jack. > > 73, Pete N4ZR > The World Contest Station Database, at www.conteststations.com > The Reverse Beacon Network at http://reversebeacon.net, blog at > reversebeacon.blogspot.com, > spots at telnet.reversebeacon.net, port 7000 and > arcluster.reversebeacon.net, port 7000 > > On 10/20/2012 8:42 AM, stan levandowski wrote: >> Interesting question, Charles. I now have the Begali Intrepid Key working correctly. The answer to my question is as follows: "Turn the bug onto its back and you will see 3 screws in the connection compartment. 2 are holding the side rails in place and 1 is earth. connect the 2 that are holding the rails together with a jumper and also connect these to the tip of your jack plug. Then connect the 3rd screw to the sheath (ground)of the jack plug. The 2 rails are held above ground by plastic stand-offs."
