Boy Scouts need your help

Mark Volstad
Fellow Elecrafters,

I've been mentoring a group of six Boy Scouts from northern Kentucky who are
trying to
earn the Radio merit badge. Tomorrow (Saturday) morning they will be
attempting to
complete the final requirement, an actual QSO. To help ensure their success
within our
limited time available, I'd like to ask anyone with a bit of time to spare
to keep an ear
open for our CQs between approximately 8:45 and 9:45 EDT (1245 and 1345 UTC)
on 14.290 MHz +/- QRM. These boys will be mic-shy, so patience on your end
will
be appreciated!

We'll be operating from the club station of Dixie Heights High School
(KY4DH) but will
be using my personal call sign (AI4BJ).

73,
Mark  AI4BJ

Consider it done, Mark:

My not-so-wee anymore 11 yr. old lad, Charles, WA2CJC, just "crossed the
bridge" from Webelos to Boy Scout a few days ago. It was kind of funny
because he earned his ticket at 10 and fulfilled the requirements but they
couldn't give him his merit badge until he actually became an actual Boy
Scout. They tried and I actually had to point that out to them - hihi. Best
of luck to you and your lads. Hpe c u ota tomorrow.

I only have about 15 minutes tomorrow morning, but I will be on the air at 8:45 from Vermont with my 5 watts. Hope to talk with one of your scouts. I was one in the 1950s when I was a novice.
