Hi All
I was monitoring 144.370 today on the K3 with K144XV module installed when I heard a SSB sideband signal at about S2. Also connected to the rig was a Butternut HF6V for HF. The signal turned out to be a strong station on 28.370 - the IF frequency. Anyone else noticed breakthrough to 144 from the 28 IF ?? Roger - GW4WND |

I have to confirm observing this on my set-up...there have been strong CW signals on 10 meters, and they appear through both my XV144*/and/* my XV432. I first noticed this on my XV432, and it gave me quite a start to hear European CW signals "on" 432 MHz (don't I wish!!). Both xvtrs are connected to my K3/P3 combination. This is one of the downsides of too many spots on the solar disk, I guess............ One (im)pertinent observation: When I noticed this, I switched my XV432 antenna input over to a UHF dummy load, connected through good coax and only about 2 feet away. The signals did not diminish in strength, so they were not coming in through the XV432 antenna input. Hello Roger
I also have the K3 with internal transverter. 10m is certainly lively today ! I have the P3 as well, and have used this to evaluate the breakthrough from 28MHz, which I find to be between -45 and -50dB. With my HF vertical it means that a number of 10m signals are audible as breakthrough, but barely moving the meter. If I had an efficient HF beam the situation would certainly not be satisfactory. Roger, John, et al.
To add further to what I wrote earlier, I DO have a fairly good 10 meter beam, and the "breakthrough" is much less attenuated than -45 to -50 dB. I don't think this problem has anything to do with the transverters/per se/, and when I have a chance, I will try disconnecting the 10 meter beam and capping off the HF antenna input on the K3. I have a reasonable guess as to the effect of this maneuver.
