Just received (5/5/09) my K3, serial #02969 and both the AF and RF gain knobs were cracked. After few turns of the knobs (spin on the control shaft) they no longer would increase or decrease levels. Called Elecraft...immediately said new control knobs would be in the mail. As other have commented the knobs appear flemsy and very light duty. Hopefully Elecraft will take corrective action. Anyone find a suitable replacement? Thanks for your comments...K2HDU...Ken

About 1000 of the knobs were maufactured improperly, which has since been corrected. Eric told me at Dayton that future knobs will have a glass additive in them so that they will be virtually indestructible.
Email parts at Elecraft and they will promptly send replacements. 73, Lou, W0FK

On my Serial #2569 the two AF/RF knobs cracked last month and last night the outer Sub knob cracked right off. Elecraft sent me replacements (AF/RF knobs) and I already emailed them this morning about the Sub knob. 73, Jim N9WW |

I know this is just wishful thinking, but it would be nice to have machined
aluminum knobs instead of plastic or resin.
