Burn in of KPA100

Robert Allbright
Hi Tom, NG3V

I built my KPA 100 in Jan/Feb 2007

I still haven't reset the
mounting screws and haven't had any problems sofar, my K2/100
just works fine business mainly from the car /m at full power.
Sometime soon I'm intending to check out the filter alignment
etc so will check those screws in the KPA 100 then.

Rob,

And ... you will *not* notice any problem at all until one time it just
stops transmitting and you have zapped the PA transistors because their
cases got hot and the heat could not transfer to the heat sink.

THEN ... after putting new transistors and thermal pads in place, you
must start the clock again and re-tighten after some time on the new
transistors.

What I am attempting to communicate is to DO IT NOW!

Many thanks to Don W3FPR and Ian G0VGS
for your prompt advice.

and also to Tom NG3V for bringing up the matter in the first place.

I won't use the radio until I've tightened the screws! hi
