While attempting to set the vox /antivox /speaker / headphone settings on my K3-100 (#2389) - and during a moment when I was not touching the rig - I heard a pop on the audio and then a loud bzzzzzzzz noise which has not let up. At the time I was using an external speaker but disconnected it and the noise continued through the internal speaker. I cannot turn down the noise when I rotate the AF or RF knobs, though in the extreme counter-clockwise position it does change pitch. The receiver seems to still be working properly, though the noise covers and distorts weak signals. Audio also sounds ok through headphones, though with that continuous bzzzzz right in front of me it's not easy listening. The rig also seems to work well on transmit although other operators tell me they also hear the bzzzz. It is there in all modes, and takes a couple of seconds to start up when I turn the rig on. Needless to say, I don't like running the K3 while there's an obvious defect. I hope I haven't fried another DSP board. Any ideas about what my problem might be? George, is the speaker plugged in with a mono connector and the spkrs menu
item set to "2"? If so you may have blown one of the speaker amp chips on the dsp board. 73 Greg On Aug 26, 2012 9:24 PM, <[hidden email]> wrote: > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
