The response of the knob is poor especially turning it at slow speeds.
Meaning that I have a tough time adjusting the power or the compression to what I want. It works better turning it faster. Anyone else seen this? Yes, I first noticed it after the firmware started using the front panel flash memory, though that may be a coincidence. I think the response time depends on how busy the processor is, in other words, what it is doing at the time. Some computer logging programs poll the radio excessively (in my opinion, for example ten times a second) to get the current frequency, mode, etc. If you are running such software at the same time as you are twiddling the knobs, that could account for what you are seeing.

Mike,
This must be a defective incremental encoder. They should work perfectly, all the time, at any rotation speed. You should request a replacement. 73, Wayne N6KR W0MU Mike Fatchett wrote: > The response of the knob is poor especially turning it at slow speeds. > Meaning that I have a tough time adjusting the power or the > compression to > what I want. This only happens on sn 2745

I was referring to a perceptible delay between turning the knob and seeing the value change on the display. Upon re-reading Mike's post, it seems possible he is experiencing a different symptom, which may be due to a faulty encoder as Wayne suggested.
