CQWW Stateside QRM

nv9z
I had intended to snag a bunch of new counters for my Elecraft DXCC
Award today before having to go to work at 1900Z.  The US "Big Guns"
were splattering 20M to pieces this morning.  I've always wondered what
that sounds like on the other side of the Atlantic.  I managed to work
4 QSOs on 20M with my KX1 - a pair of Canadians, Mexico and Germany and
threw in the towel after only about 30 minutes.  I hope everyone is
fairing better in the contest than I did!

At times like this, the 10, 18 and 24 Mhz bands are especially good,
even if they're not open.

I have over 100 contacts from today's effort, including quite a few
from NA, and a few all time new ones. Not bad when you consider I am
just casually S&Ping, using 5W to an MFJ magnetic loop in the attic,
and since 15m is dead I've only got 20 and 40 to play with. I'm never
going to win anything with my station but I just love CQ WW CW!

Just need to put in a few extra hours tomorrow to do the 12 hours
minimum required to submit a log.

Yes there are a few clicky stations (not all from your side, either.)
I had my K2 narrowed down as far as it would go and wishing I had my
K3...

That comment had me pull up the contest rules as I had never heard of a
minimum time you need to work a contest before one can submit a log. Turns out
the actual rule is a minimum of 12 hours operating time in order to be
eligible for the awards.
