Can I use this power supply?

Robert

I have a K3/100 on order and I already have this Kenwood KPS-15 power supply. It seems to have the capacity to power the radio. Thoughts?

Re: Can I use this power supply?

ab2tc
Hi,

I am sure it's more than useable. Can other owners answer the following two questions:

Is the negative output connected to chassis and the ground prong of the AC plug? If it is, can it be disconnected easily (on the MFJ4125 I currently use this is next to impossible)?

Is there any RF hash? The QST review wasn't entirely convincing, but really all that matters is the noise under a light load (RX mode), which they didn't measure.

I am interested since I am starting to get fed up with the fan noise from the MFJ and the line regulation isn't stellar.

Is this Anderson PowerPole a connector I need to buy? If so can you provide a link? BTW, if it isn't obvious. I'm a new General class licensee as of Saturday.

Looks adequate for use with a K3.  I use an Astron SS-25, 20 Amp
continuours, 25 Surge.

Now issues.

You will have to modify the plug to fit the K3 Anderson PowerPole power input.

maybe or maybe not. Read this:

Might be a noise issue.
If you have it just try it and you will find out.

Re: Can I use this power supply?

Thanks Jim. I'll just have to try it and hope for the best. Wife is having a heart attack about what I've already spent. If the PS doesn't work out, I'll have to live with it a while until it can be replaced.

Re: Can I use this power supply?

Bob Naumann W5OV

Your K3 comes with the Power Pole connectors that it requires.

You do not need to purchase an additional connector.
