Cover for front panel mic connector

Bob,w5pvr
Am now using K3 rear panel mic connector. Front panel mic connector has an
unfinished look and is open to dust and other stuff. Does anyone know where
possibly a knurled screw on cover may be obtained.
Bob, w5pvr

Re: Cover for front panel mic connector

Don Butler
I cover the front mic connecters on my K3s with flexible SO-239 connector
protectors (which often come with a new transceiver, amplifier, wattmeter,
etc.)  I have both red and black ones in my junkbox.  Black looks best and
works perfectly to cover the mic connector.

Remove the ring nut from a spare mic plug, then blank off the opening by
filing the rim off a dime. A portrait of FDR will give your K3 that
extra All-American look.

I use one of the covers that Cushcraft provided with an antenna.
It's got a  little hole in it and it's a tad loose, but doesn't come off and
blends in nicely.

Re: Cover for front panel mic connector

Rick Dettinger-3
I found a metal cover made to do just that.  It was at a marine store
and is used to keep unused jacks from getting  corrosion  in salt
air.  At least, I think that is what it is for.  It has a gasket, and
a small chain and ring that can be placed under a cabinet screw or
removed.  I got mine for my K2, since I don't have any need for the
mic jack.  The K2 didn't have a mic label, which, unfortunately, the
K3 does. :-)
