Anyone have a similar experience?
Only occasionally, I notice that when I end a transmission my K3 receive seems almost muted. It recovers to normal sensitivity very quickly. I so far see no pattern to the effect that might suggest a cause. This just happened today to me during the NA QSO party on 20M.

Jack, what AGC setting do you use? I have noticed something similar
here, since around the time I updated to the latest firmware. I'm not suggesting cause and effect, just approximately how long it's been> 73, Pete N4ZR The World Contest Station Database, updated daily at www.conteststations.com The Reverse Beacon Network at http://reversebeacon.net, blog at reversebeacon.blogspot.com, spots at telnet.reversebeacon.net, port 7000 On 1/14/2012 10:15 PM, Jack Berry wrote: > Anyone have a similar experience? > > Only occasionally, I notice that when I end a transmission my K3 receive seems almost muted. I have experienced something similar and my impression is that it is the noise blanker that sometimes needs some time to recover, but this is just my gut feeling at the moment.

Pete,
I had a similar experience last year at Field Day. It only happened on 40 meters. It turned out to be a loose PL-259 connector on the 40 meter bandpass filter. 73, Don W3FPR On 1/15/2012 7:36 AM, Pete Smith N4ZR wrote: > Jack, what AGC setting do you use? Jack,
Is this happening when working strong stations ? What I notice, for example in a contest, is that after working a strong station and logging the QSO with a TU, the RX is still desensed by the AGC action caused by the strong station I just worked. The AGC keeps starts off where it is left as you start transmitting. Getting back to full sensitivity then, is set by the agc settings. 73 Arie PA3A Op 15-1-2012 4:15, Jack Berry schreef: > Anyone have a similar experience? > > Only occasionally, I notice that when I end a transmission my K3 receive seems almost muted. I had a similar problem years ago with other gear. It all went away
when I replaced a connector feeding the coax through a wall. --Dave, W8OV On 1/14/2012 9:15 PM, Jack Berry wrote: > Anyone have a similar experience? > > Only occasionally, I notice that when I end a transmission my K3 receive seems almost muted. Thanks everyone. I'll check AGC and PL-259's today when I get back to the shack. I have not (purposefully) touched AGC so it should at default settings. Seldom use noise reduction either. I will pay close attention to signal strengths as well.

My incident yesterday was on 20M CW during the NAQP. After transmitting I
suddenly could not hear any sigs. I looked at my P3 and there were plenty of strong sigs showing up, but I just could not hear them. I tried to tune around, but could not hear anything. I tried transmitting and SWR seemed okay. I was at first unsure what to do, but I decided to change bands by hitting the band button and I believe went down to 30M. I then went right back up to 20M and AF was restored. After that I resumed the contest with no problems. I was using LPBridge and running N1MM and my regular logging program at the same time. Sometimes LPBridge can get hung but that did not appear to happen this time. Everything has been working normally ever since. It was very weird to then see the series of emails regarding this same phenomenon later in the day! Seems like a firmware bug, but I have not been able to reproduce it.
