The importance of a control for display brightness on the P3 is an important
feature that could easily be overlooked. Does it have one? ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Great! Leave it to Elecraft to come up with a sensible design... ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Yes. Brightness is fully adjustable.
It also easily tunes signals with its point and click tuning knob. Actually faster than a mouse for me. 73, Eric WA6HHQ On 7/27/2010 9:36 AM, Andrew Moore wrote: > The importance of a control for display brightness on the P3 is an important > feature that could easily be overlooked. > > Does it have one? > > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
I would sure like to see a video of how that point and click knob is faster
than a mouse then maybe I'll understand. Does someone out there have a cam? If the LP-PAN window is fully visible and not covered up by other windows, I find it hard to believe that the knob can beat the mouse. But, as is often the case, my LP-PAN window is fully or partly hidden and I can believe the extra click needed to bring it in focus might just be enough to lose the "race". If I really wanted to optimize this for a contest, I could probably carefully arrange the LP-PAN and logger windows so they don't overlap, but my contesting is just casual hunt and pounce so I am not really that much in a rush.

Wouldn't the ability to have the rig QSY just staring at the position on
the P3 screen be neat. 73 de Brian/K3KO ab2tc wrote: > If the LP-PAN window is fully visible and not covered up by other windows, I > find it hard to believe that the knob can beat the mouse. You shouldn't even have to go THAT far. The radio should be capable of "fully autonomous" mode ... think of it as a Roomba sweeping up contacts for the contest instead of just .. ahhh ... dirt. Bouncing off of and changing direction at band edges, seeking multipliers, ignoring stations worked, occasionally finding a spot with no refuse and stopping to call "CQ TEST", monitoring other bands, ... etc.

Knut,
Have you tried the 'Collapse' button at the top of the PowerSDR screen? It reduces the display to a simple small panadapter without all of the rig controls.
