Hi K2-members; I do have successfully build a K2/100,but now I like to do some experiments with a analog S-meter device temporary in place of the standard K2 LED device. Could someone give me some suggestions where I best, could pickup this 2 wire S-meter signal for my analog indication device. Personally I really prefer a analog reading and indication in place of a LED device ! I like to do some comparing around the both devices . I look forward to your suggestions and maby some experiences around ? Kindly regards Jean ON4AEF. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Jean,
The signal you want is available from Control Board U2 pin 1 - that is an analog signal. You should follow it with a unity Gain Op Amp stage to minimize any loading effects of the analog meter, and you may even want to do some scaling after the op amp to properly drive whatever meter you will be using. In other words, this meter should be in addition to the LED bargraph rather than as a replacement. The LED Bargraph also shows relative transmit power or ALC level in transmit mode. If you use a computer with the K2, there used to be an analog type S-meter display application available, but I forget where it can be found. Perhaps someone else will know where to find it. 73, Don W3FPR On 2/8/2014 9:23 AM, Behiels JeanPierre wrote: > > Hi K2-members; > > > > > > I do have successfully build a K2/100,but now I like to do some experiments with a analog S-meter device temporary in place of the standard K2 LED device. > > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

For the K2/K3 analog (computer) meter program, try a search for W4SMT.
That's all that shows in the Help-About box. 73, matt W6NIA On Sat, 08 Feb 2014 09:41:37 -0500, you wrote: >Jean, > >The signal you want is available from Control Board U2 pin 1 - that is >an analog signal. >You should follow it with a unity Gain Op Amp stage to minimize any >loading effects of the analog meter, and you may even want to do some >scaling after the op amp to properly drive whatever meter you will be using. > >In other words, this meter should be in addition to the LED bargraph >rather than as a replacement. You can find the K3Meter app here:
http://w4smt.com/sight.net/K3Meter/ I'm not sure it will work with a K2. I don't recall testing it. This is circa 2008.
