Hi guys and happy new year to you all. I built a K1 about 3 years ago now (my first rig in fact) and it has been in regular use since. I am more than satisfied with the K1 but feel the need for the big brother to give me more coverage, quicker band switching and SSB capability. I intend to get the basic K2 and add the SSB module at a later stage. Does anyone know the latest situation with shipping to the UK. Last time I had to pay duty and VAT. 73's, Martin M0KWV Why not take a look at our Web site? http://www.simoncarves.com ************************************************************************* The information in this email and any attachments may contain privileged and/or confidential information intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom it is addressed. You should not have to pay duty, Martin, as Elecraft use a customs code
that exempts the package from duty. But you likely will have to pay UK VAT at 17.5% plus a fee of a few pounds that Royal Mail charge for collecting the VAT. These days, you will probably get a card put through your door by your regular postman to say that the package is awaiting collection at your local sorting office. Good luck with your K2. You will not be disappointed. 73 de David G4DMP In message <[hidden email] m>, [hidden email] writes > >Hi guys and happy new year to you all. Martin,
You have to pay VAT if a parcel FROM OUTSIDE EU comes into your hands. That's all. It works like this: All goods travelling within the EU is free of this "extra" VAT. If you buy someting in DL you pay the VAT of DL at the time of puchase and you don't have to pay the UK VAT. That's how it works. For every parcel coming into EU you have to pay the VAT of the country where you live (in PA: 19%). (and there are the shipping costs ofcourse). Think of it this way: the prices in dollars becomes the price in euro's (1 euro is about 1,25 dollar). 73, Arie PA3A -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] Namens [hidden email] Verzonden: dinsdag 2 januari 2007 12:33 Aan: [hidden email] Onderwerp: [Elecraft] Elecraft : Thinking of buying a K2 Hi guys and happy new year to you all.
