Eric and Dale were at our local hamfest in Santa Barbara on Saturday with a really fantastic display. The star of the show: The KPA-500 amp. It is amazing. When my friend and I first saw it we thought is was a minature Alpha 87. What an absolutely beautiful product! I assumed it had a switching power supply, but Eric informed me that it was a linear supply, with a total amp weight of about 25 lbs., all in the form factor of the K3. It makes a THP amp look too big!
There were a couple of P3's on display as well. I have mixed feelings of the usefulness (to me) of a panadapter; I may or may not buy one. But that amp! If I could pre-order one today I would. And for those of you who don't have an Elecraft transceiver, the KPA-500 will work with whatever you have. By the way, if I understood Eric correctly, the amp have full output even on 6 meters. 73 de K6SBA David in Santa Barbara ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
