Greg,
My understanding is that the Elecraft Hex Key has been discontinued. 73, Scott, N9AA On 7/22/13 12:00 AM, Greg Bohning At Gmail wrote: > Is the special edition HexKey still available ? > > Regards , > Greg W6atb > > Via iPhone > Cycle Siren, Inc > 877 477-4736 > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi Greg,
Unfortunately, no. Elecraft no longer offers it through their business. I was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago, as I wanted a second one; since I now am set up to run remotely. This way, both set of paddles would have the same feel to them & I wouldn't have to lug the one set across the country! I found that the place with a decent price is HRO... $220 with free shipping. 73 de Jim - KE8G ---- Greg Bohning At Gmail <[hidden email]> wrote: > Is the special edition HexKey still available ? > > Regards , > Greg W6atb > > Via iPhone > Cycle Siren, Inc > 877 477-4736 > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

You can still get the same key, but with a Bencher logo, directly from Bencher.

That is correct, but the cost is $325, as compared to HRO's price of $220; including free shipping.

Yikes ! It is very a nice paddle (I have the Elecraft model) but I am not sure I would pay $325 for it, $220 sounds ok.
I guess Bencher raised their prices recently .. I am almost afraid to check to see what they are selling the Mercury paddle for. Another possibility is to get a brass plate from here:
http://www.arkayengravers.com/elecraft/ One could get one with the Elecraft logo and your call engraved on it. He must have permission to use the logo and may even be able to duplicate the original Elecraft Hexkey one. Only Ken can answer that. I will say I have been happy with my purchases. 73, Bob K2TK ex KN2TKR (1956) & K2TKR On 7/22/2013 1:21 PM, Jim - KE8G wrote: > That is correct, but the cost is $325, as compared to HRO's price of $220; including free shipping. > > 73 de Jim - KE8G > > > ---- Michael Babineau <[hidden email]> wrote: >> You can still get the same key, but with a Bencher logo, directly from Bencher. >> >> Michael VE3WMB >> Subject: [Elecraft] Elecraft's HexKey >> Is the special edition HexKey still available ? >> Regards , >> Greg W6atb >> Via iPhone >> Cycle Siren, Inc >> 877 477-4736 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

If you are not in a hurry and don't mind a "used" Bencher BY-1, look around at hamfests, I got a BY-1 for $60.0 (10 or 12 years ago.....maybe more now).....It wasn't (isn't) perfect cosmetically but functions as well as a new one. I paid around $500 for an N2DAN Long Island Mercury paddle back in the
late 90s at Pacificon, before Bencher acquired the rights. So, that's not bad, considering inflation. Wouldn't part with mine. Until I bought a Begali Sculpture, I'd never had a paddle with such a nice touch. 73 de Jim - AD6CW On 7/22/2013 10:29 AM, Jim - KE8G wrote: > The Mercury is going for $525!!! > > 73 de JIm - KE8G > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I have one I'd consider selling - the Long Island Mercury. Would consider
offers if anyone is interested. I used a BY1 mobile for 5 years. It sat on the seat next to me, though
occasionally a fast stop in traffic sent it into the firewall. No idea why I didn't think to tether it. Try that with a Hexkey! It's still in daily use in the shack and must be at least 30 years old now. Terrific key. Simple and rugged. When I tried to order replacement nylon pivots (they wore out), Bencher replaced them for free. Customer service Elecraft-style.
