Major disruption in the 831 area code area. Affecting telephones,
internet, etc.

This is probably 8 days too late, but the site may be down because of
a whole lot of new products being announced.  Apple takes it's site
down while updating for new products. Elecraft is following he same
strategy.  Look for a spectrum display that beats the one built into
ICOM7800 in responsiveness and sensitivity, the new amplifiers 800 and
1500W, gps disciplined oscillators, and more.

Just wait a bit...

I have heard that there's an ATT&T trunk line cut in San Jose that affects
service to the Santa Cruz County area, including Aptos. Telephones and
internet are affected.

Wayne will be cut off from distractions, able only to work on firmware! Who knows what the
result will be...

It has been down all day for me while trying to access it from the UK. I am surprised such a failure is allowed - someone will be in deep trouble. The cause seems to be a single cut fibre in San Jose. I thought the net was supposed to be able to work around such things so perhaps it is more than the local papers are reporting.

I'm in Santa Cruz, and things like telephones (landlines), cell
phones, and DSL is down for a lot of people. Even 911 service (!).

Sigh. So much for redundancy on the part of the backbone providers, eh?

Re: Elecraft's website down? I keep getting "network timeout"

Ken Kopp-3
In reply to this post by AD6XY
I have no idea of the cause, of course .... but as a retired utility
communications tech I'll tell you that anything is possible and
sooner-or-later will happen.  A utility simply can't cover every
possible uh-oh.

My utility ... like most ... uses an extensive microwave system
for control of the largest utility in the US (In square miles served)
and there are extensive "backups and alternatives.  This being
said, an earthquake that would disturb rowers and dish alignment
would be a major disaster.  Ditto for a large forest fire.  The dense
smoke can cause HV lines to flash over, causing them to "trip out",
and can cause very wide-spread outages.

Lots can and does happen.
