Just a general question, thought my new power supply was dropping voltage
on TX but no it is rock solid, I get about 1V drop at full power CW on the K3 Display. Is this normal, I have already replaced the troublesome PA pins is there something else that would cause this. Don't think the drop over the power lead would cause it Any ideas appreciated, Cliff VK2CCJ ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Sounds a little high to me. Mine drops from 14.6 to 14.1 under full power CW. 73, Bill W4ZV |

You say "new power supply," so if that problem wasn't present before and
you've changed nothing but the power supply, that would be the first place I'd look. Maybe there is a problem with the connectors. 73, Scott, N9AA On 5/3/13 4:52 AM, Clifford Hynds wrote: > Just a general question, thought my new power supply was dropping voltage > on TX but no it is rock solid, I get about 1V drop at full power CW on the > K3 Display. Measure voltage at the power supply end and you'll have a better idea.

Cliff, there is a wealth of information already written on this subject. I
suggest you check the archives. Some drop is normal but the amount depends on your setup. The direct answer to your question depends on several factors. You need to determine where the voltage drop is occurring. It may be your power supply itself in which case there is nothing to be done other than finding a better supply. You can decrease drop by using bigger and shorter wire. 73 Fred, AE6QL -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Clifford Hynds Sent: Friday, May 03, 2013 1:52 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] Expected voltage reading K3 Display ? at full RF output.
