I know this was discussed WAY back when in the earlier days of the K3.
I need a felt washer, the type that sits between the vfo tuning knob and the front panel. Can anyone suggest a local source? You can get felt washers at Walmart. Go to the automotive batteries. I
don't know if the hole would be too big or not, but you can try it and see. 73, Joel - W4JBB On 4/14/13 8:42 AM, Barry N1EU wrote: > I know this was discussed WAY back when in the earlier days of the K3. > I need a felt washer, the type that sits between the vfo tuning knob > and the front panel. Make sure that these washers are not chemically treated. I think some are. This is done to neutralize battery corrosion.
Might not be what you want on electronic equipment. 73, Rick Dettinger K7MW On Apr 14, 2013, at 7:12 AM, Joel Black wrote: > You can get felt washers at Walmart. Go to the automotive batteries. I think all of those battery washers are heavily chemically treated and I don't think I'd want one anywhere near my rig. Home Depot carries a wide assortment of felt circles for use under table legs or as bumpers for cabinet doors, etc. They have adhesive on one side (which could face the knob), but if you don't like that the felt is thick enough that you can actually shave off the adhesive with a sharp razor. 73, Dave AB7E On 4/14/2013 7:37 AM, Rick Dettinger wrote: > Make sure that these washers are not chemically treated. I needed one some time ago for a similar use to dampen a knob on another
rig. I simply raided my XYLs sewing supplies found some felt and a pair of scissors it wasn't perfect but did the job just fine and since its hidden behind the knob who cares that I cant cut a perfect circle. I did the same thing, but used a leather punch to make the shaft hole, easy.
