Our best wishes for a great time and many QSO's to all who will be enjoying field day this weekend. we thank elecraft for providing the best field day radio we have ever used (and we have used a few over the past fifty years ;-) Pardner Steve and I will deploy K2's for our fifth B category field day together. Our location is on a ridge that is about 9,000 feet altitude and stands about 500 feet above surrounding terrain. If Murphy over takes us, we will sip tequilla and fly fish for trout! Maybe we'll do that anyway GL and hope to work you! 73, Fred - kt5x, and Steve - WD9FJL K2's # 700 & 1497 _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft You must subscribe to post. K7EAR, the Eastern Arizona Amateur Radio Society, Inc. will be on the air as
a 3A solar powered QRP entry with four K-2's. The location will be at nearly 9,000' AMSL in the Pinaleno Mtns. of southeast AZ --- IF --- the USFS doesn't shut the mountain down due to three dry lightning caused fires that showed up yesterday. K7EAR + GOTA came out as #9 overall last year and has it's sights on a top 5 finish this year. Photos of last year's operation are viewable at www.eaars.com . Good luck to all FD participants. 73 de Milt, N5IA EAARS Field Day Chairman ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Brown" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Cc: <[hidden email]> Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2004 8:00 AM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Field Day > On Wed, 23 Jun 2004 07:55:23 -0600, Indy wrote: > > >Our best wishes for a great time and many QSO's to all who will be enjoying > >field day this weekend. > > I'll be pounding brass with my K2/100 and KAT100 and signing K9OR with the > North Shore Radio Club (Chicago) 3A effort in a village park at about 650 ft > AMSL. > > Jim K9YC > > > > _______________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Post to: [hidden email] > http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > You must subscribe to post. > Subscriber Info (Addr. KI6WX will be running Field Day with a K2 at about 9,000' in the Ancient
Bristlecone Pine Forest on White Mountain Peak near the CA-NV border. I'll be operating 1B primarily on PSK31 and CW. _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft You must subscribe to post. Any guidance appreciated.
I am finishing up the DSP and CW keying mods to two k2's for Field Day operation. Yep, I am somewhat of a procrastinator. Anyway, one works very well. The other comes up with the info 080 message. All process of elemination efforts have been made by substituting boards back and forth between both radios, including the new Firmware chips. Result. The problem in somewhere on the control board. Everything else has been eliminated. Both mods call for changes to the control board, more for the CW keying mod than the addition of the DSP modules. I have done the requisite visual checks, all the resistance checks, and "in operation" voltage checks as far as possible in the vicinity of the modified areas and components. I do not find any differences, anywhere. Anyone out there have suggestions for specific things to check? This one has me stumped. But then again, I may not be seeing the forest for the tree. So, any ideas from the worldwide brain trust?
