I am considering the KBPF3 general coverage receiver option, I have the following filters in the rig 2.7 5 pole crystal stock filter, 8 pole Inrad 500, 400 and 200hz filters. Do I need to consider any other filter options if I do purchase the KBPF3 module? Thanks Mike VE3WDM ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Thanks Mike Don't think so, unless you want to receive signals wider than 2.7 KHz 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2011 Cal QSO Party 1-2 Oct 2011 - www.cqp.org. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Mike,
You do not *need* to purchase an additional filter, but you may want to. If you want to listen to AM (not AMsync), then you would want a wider filter - with AM, you need to have enough room for both sidebands and the 2.7 kHz filter will limit the highest audio frequency demodulated to about 1.4 kHz.. If you want to also transmit AM, I would suggest the 6 kHz filter, but if you never will transmit AM, then I would suggest the 13 kHz filter for SWL purposes. Sync AM can use the 2.7 kHz filter because only one sideband will be used at a time. 73, Don W3FPR On 8/13/2011 12:17 PM, Mike Weir wrote: > I am considering the KBPF3 general coverage receiver option, I have the following filters in the rig 2.7 5 pole crystal stock filter, 8 pole Inrad 500, 400 and 200hz filters.
