First Contact with KX3 But strange behavior observed

Doug Person-3
The KX3 arrived many weeks ago and just haven't had the time to get it
assembled and on the air.  I found time at last yesterday and it went
together in no time.  Very, very easy to assemble.

Once I got it on the air the receiver sounded great and all the controls
made sense and seemed to work well.  One strange thing thought.  I was
copying some cw on 30 meters and decided to narrow the bandwidth a bit.
However, once the bandwidth switched to FL2 the signals disappeared.  I
don't mean faded or got weaker - they disappeared.  I would assume being
a purely DSP receiver, I should be able to digitally reduce the
bandwidth.  I could hear a faint click of a relay but I'm not seeing any
setting regarding filter setup.  Everything is as shipped. I haven't
changed any settings.

What am I missing?

It's possible this is a firmware issue. I have a new field-test
release I'll send you.

Do you have the KXFL3 installed?  If so, try reseating it.

I ran into something similar when I first fired up my KX3. I realized I was
listening to the wrong side of the zero beat, where I could just barely
hear the signal - then tuned up a bit and realized it was the same signal
but this time much stronger. (I haven't run into this since.)

Hi Doug,

I assume you don't have the KXFL3 roofing filter installed.  I had the same issue.  Make sure that in the MENU -->  temporally turn on  TECH MD [ON] , then select Rx xFIL and then set it to [not inSt].  I think you will find the setting in [norm].

This should fix that issue.
