Front Panel question

EMD
Hello all,

I have a couple of questions on the K2 front panel assembly .  First, is it necessary to solder the clips that hold the potentiometers to the PC board.  Second, I'm getting ready to install J1 and I noticed that pin 1 on the PC board has a round pad, but I did not notice any difference on connector J1 itself.  Is there a right/wrong way to install it.  Nothing mentioned in the manual so I suspect not but thought I would make sure.

  Ed,

It is not electrically necessary to solder the clips on the
potentiometers, but is highly recommended.  Soldering those to the board
will provide additional mechanical stability to the controls.

The round pad normally designates the pin 1 position (and it is easy to
overlook soldering it).  In the case of connectors, there is no
identifying "pin 1", so just solder it in place, it is bi-directional.
The same is not true for ICs.  Again, that round solder pad is easy to
overlook, so pay attention to it when soldering.

Hello

My K2 kit seems to missing the spacers used to install the diffuser.  I have looked through the part bags but have not found them.  Any ideas where they might be hiding?

  Ed,

Do you have the switch spacing tool (a piece of PC Board)?  The spacers
are break-off parts of that tool.  Keep the rest and add the components
from the Probe kit envelope to that board and you will have an RF probe
if it is ever needed.

Thanks Don,

I figured I was missing something somewhere so I went back to the part of the manual where I used that spacing tool and figured it out from there.  I do have another question on the diffuser.  I did not remove backing on either side of the it.  It looks like the LCD is placed on top of the backing material of the diffuser.  Is that correct?  I don't see any mention of removing it before seating the LCD on top of it.

  Ed,

Remove nothing from the diffuser except the packing foam.
