Do I use the wrist grounding strap at all times when I building the kit at all times, or when I am handling the ICs?

I think wear the grounding strap at all times. Not because you always
need to for the particular task in hand, but because it is so easy to forget to slip on the wrist strap when it is important to do so. 73 Kevin VK3DAP / ZL2DAP BILL COCHRAN wrote: > Do I use the wrist grounding strap at all times when I building the kit at all times, or when I am handling the ICs? > > BILL COCHRAN > BILL COCHRAN REAL ESTATE APPRAISALS, LLC > 1430 N 12TH STREET > CAMBRIDGE, OHIO > 43725 > > PHONE:740-439-7058 > FAX: 740-236-1560 > > AMATEUR CALLSIGN: N8PGX > _______________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Post to: [hidden email] > You must be a subscriber to post to the list. > Subscriber Info (Addr. Bill:
You only NEED to use the wrist grounding strap when handling some ICs and some of the transistors. To be safe, I use it for all ICs and transistors, but especially the ones that are supplied in anti-static foam. Resistors, capacitors, and inductors are not sensitive to static and are easier to handle if you don't have one wrist on a leash. 73's and good luck, John AA0VE BILL COCHRAN wrote: >Do I use the wrist grounding strap at all times when I building the kit at all times, or when I am handling the ICs? > > > _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I wore the strap all the time. That way, while I'm handling the rig or
the board, things are protected. Also, it is way too easy to forget the strap if you only put it on for the times you "need" it. - Keith KD1E - - K2 5411 - -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of BILL COCHRAN Sent: Friday, May 26, 2006 10:28 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] GROUNDING STRAP Do I use the wrist grounding strap at all times when I building the kit at all times, or when I am handling the ICs?
