Thank you to everyone who replied to my "grunge" question, now what about getting scratches out of those plastic display covers?

Richard,
For getting mild scratches out of most plastics, try wetting a smooth cloth with a thin oil, then rub, and rub, and rub. The small amount of heat developed by the rubbing will clear small scratches in the plastic. For deeper gouges, I am afraid replacement is the only cure I know of. 73, Don W3FPR On 2/26/2011 7:09 PM, Richard Thorpe wrote: > Thank you to everyone who replied to my "grunge" question, now what about getting scratches out of those plastic display covers? > > Richard K6CG > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Richard,
If the scratches are not too deep you might try plastic polish, available at most boat dealers and commonly used to polish windshields on boats and airplanes. If they are just fine surface scratches I use Turtle Wax.
Take a small amount and put on a moistened cloth and polish in circular motions with your fingertip. Buff out with a dry cloth and examine. Repeat until sctatches are gone. Turtle Wax polishes out the fine scratches in plastic as long as they are just surface scratches and aren't to deep.
