Grunge Thanks

Thank you to everyone who replied to my "grunge" question, now what about getting scratches out of those plastic display covers?

  Richard,

For getting mild scratches out of most plastics, try wetting a smooth
cloth with a thin oil, then rub, and rub, and rub.  The small amount of
heat developed by the rubbing will clear small scratches in the
plastic.  For deeper gouges, I am afraid replacement is the only cure I
know of.

If the scratches are not too deep you might try plastic polish, available at
most boat dealers and commonly used to polish windshields on boats and
airplanes.

Also - local motorcycle shop for windshield scratch remover. Many brands
available.

If they are just fine surface scratches I use Turtle Wax.
Take a small amount and put on a moistened cloth and polish in circular motions with
your fingertip. Buff out with a dry cloth and examine.  Repeat until sctatches are gone.
Turtle Wax polishes out the fine scratches in plastic as long as they are just surface
scratches and aren't to deep.

Taking scratches is a common thing with small plane owners.  You can
find an assortment of products here
