I suggest you take a look at the Expert 1K-FA from SPE: http://
www.linear-amplifier.com. I was waiting for the Elecraft amp then got  
impatient and bought one of these.

This is a fully automatic amplifier that will work with any rig - it  
will drive to about 2/3 full power with my K2 in low power mode, but  
I seem to remember that there may be FCC issues with that kind of gain?

It does use relays for QSK but they are not very loud.

It's a very portable amp too - and even comes with its own carry bag.

That looks ideal, Bob, particularly for UK use where our licensed power
output is restricted to 400W (26dBW). Rated at 1 KW pep SSB out.; 900 W
pep CW out (typ.), two-thirds output when driven with a K2 exceeds our
maximum.  I suspect the main problem will be limiting the power to
comply with our licence.

Depends what your system loss is David.  A 3dB loss would require 800w
to be able to deliver legal power at the antenna.

Hi Bob, that looks like a dandy solid state amp! With all the Value
Added Taxes in your countries now how much does the amp cost in Pounds?
Since the Dollar is lagging the Euro it will be over $3000.00 without
the VAT.
