Help with K3 and Signalink USB

Doug Shields-2
Hello everyone,

I am sure there is a simple and thoroughly obvious answer to this but I
haven't found it.  I have a K3 connected to a Signalink USB interface.  I am
using the specific K3 cable that plugs in to the speaker and mic jacks on
the K3.  I believe I have the internal jumpers on the Signalink set
properly.  I have adjusted the sound card levels as recommended.

I can receive everything and decode signals just fine using Ham Radio
Deluxe.  I just can't transmit any digital modes.  I have tried many
combinations of settings with no luck.  The K3 goes into transmit but I get
no indication of RF output.  It works fine on CW and SSB.

What am I missing?  Thanks in advance.

Doug, try it without the Signalink. Just unplug it, and plug the K3
line-out into the mic on your computer. This eliminates the jumpers and
settings as a possible source of error.

Next, try to transmit some RTTY or other digital mode. You should hear the
audio signal coming out of the computer speakers, and the K3 will go to
transmit if you are using CAT to control it.

Now plug the speaker-out on the computer into the K3 Line-in, set the power
out to 0 or hook up a dummy load, and try to transmit. By adjusting the
computer speaker out slider you can set the audio drive to the K3 as
desired. Now you're on the air. Set audio so that you get 4 full bars of
ALC and one flickering.

Good luck,
