Agreed.  It would have to be a selectable option because there are many reasons not to use it.  DXers would find it most useful.

The proposed feature would not be too helpful for DXers (at least THIS DXer) either! Lots
of times I temporarily tune away from a pileup (sometimes even to a different band) for
various reasons. The last thing I want is to have SPLIT disappear!
