JT-65A modes

telegrapher

A fellow Elecrafter gave me his number and i called him because i wasn't making any progress with the problem of keying the radio with the WSJT program.  What it came down to was in the configuration table for WSJT.  There is a place for "PTT" port and mine was set on 0.  I suspected that might have something to do with it but had no idea what should be in there.  Ken said his was 3, what a magical number!  It worked for me as well.  So now the radio goes into transmit mode as it should.  End of one problem.

I am using the Data A mode, USB, Mic-Line is set to ON, VOX Gain at 10, Antivox 000, TX delay 008 (min), PTT Key RTS-DTR

Now what happens is that it transmitts the message i have selected and right about the 48 second mark it drops, then a few seconds later it keys up and starts resend the message again but stops when the clock hits 00 and goes into receive mode.

If i was a kid this would be easy but being an old F*** its a bit more time consuming so i appreciate any all exibitions of patience.

are you sure its resending the message or the CW ID

try taking the ID off and see

Mic+Line is not applicable in DATA A - don't know how you get and
invalid configuration.

PTT/Key is only valid for the CAT port - if COM3 is normally your
control connection from HRD, etc. that's fine but you would be
better served to not tie up the CAT port for just PTT.

Sounds like a CW ID but that's too long for JT65HF and I don't see
any CW ID in either WSJT7 or WSJT9.

Both WSJT9 and JT65-HF have an optional setting to send a CW ID. With
WSJT9 you choose a time interval, and it will ID at the end of a
transmission.  With JT65-HF you can set  it to ID after sending free
text.  It sends CW as an audio tone, which modulates just like the
digital data, and it produces normal CW on the air.
