Jackite Poles

Jerry Karlovich
Several have emailed me outside the list asking for the listing on
ebay about the Jackite Poles. Go to ebay and in the search box enter
6057135366 and click search.

I was about to send my credit card info to buy a pole then I noticed that
the lock symbol that means secure had a red line striking through it.  Like
maybe it's not secure.  I'll pass for now.

I'm not sure where you were when you were entering a credit card number but
the lock symbol doesn't really mean anything. You can have a form on a
non-secure server that is submitted to a secure server for processing. You
won't see the lock, but the transaction is secure. Similarly, you can have a
form on a secure server that is submitted to a non-secure server for
processing. You'll see a lock because the form itself is on a secure server,
but you won't realize it's being submitted to a non-secure server.

In the end it doesn't matter too much even if you submitted your card number
to a non-secure server. In order for the number to be stolen, someone would
have to be spoofing the server and harvesting cards. That's not worth doing
for a small-volume site like Jackite. If you're going to go to all that
trouble then you'll want to pretend to be Amazon or PayPal.
