Good Afternoon:
I am a fairly new ham and new K3 owner. I have decided to try using the N3FJP logging SW. YES I know there are others out there but this is where I would like to start. Does any one know the K3 string to read frequency and mode that goes in the N3FJP rig interface as shown on pg 46 of the N3FJP manual. I cannot find it in the K3 manual or do not to know what to look under. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Commands are described in the K3 and KX3 Programmer's Reference, available
from our manual page http://www.elecraft.com/K2_Manual_Download_Page.htm#K3 Look for the description of the FA and MD commands. FA; reads the frequency of VFO A. MD; reads the K3's mode. 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of [hidden email] Sent: Thursday, December 19, 2013 9:54 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] K-3 rig interface for N3FJP Good Afternoon: I am a fairly new ham and new K3 owner. Fairly certain I tried this to confirm things were working when I was debugging issues with Writelog. The string was already setup in N3FJP when you select Elecraft as the radio. You shouldn't have to manually enter it.

Maybe I don't understand your problem, but I don't know why you need the K3 command strings. You should be able to click on the 'Settings' menu, then click on 'Rig Interface.' On this screen select Elecraft for the radio type, select the serial port, baud rate, etc... Then when you click the 'Test' button it will start polling the radio. If everything is working correctly, the frequency and mode will come up in the black boxes. I've been using N3FJP AClog with my K3 for over 5 years. Just do as posted above in the settings menu. It's just a matetr of matching the baud rate more than anything else. All the other settings match the K3 defaults and just make sure you have the baud rates matched.
