Hi All,
Please ignore the bit about the faint data noise in my previous post. It was my WIFI router. I guess I'll have to live without internet now. :) However the "no receive" problem still remains. I think I may have damaged the Q10 2N7000 in the rf preamp/mute circuit. I found another owner on the web with the same problem. He stated that he removed the Q10 and the problem went away, and then replaced it with a new 2N7000. -can I remove the Q10 and leave the space blank for testing? -if I do need to replace it, what is the proper one to get? Digikey lists a lot of 2n7000 with varying specs. Thanks for your help, Mike ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Mike,
Yes, the 2N7000 FET is sensitive to static, and could have been damaged when it was installed. The receive path will work fine with Q10 removed. If that restores your K1 to full receive, then replacement is in order. The specs on the 2N7000 at DigiKey are all the same from my perspective - the manufacturers may be different, and the packaging (tape, reel, bulk, etc) are different, but the component is the same. 73, Don W3FPR On 12/24/2011 5:49 PM, Michael Moody wrote: > However the "no receive" problem still remains.
