That shipping status update on the Web page you refer to was as of October 27th. It assumed that the LO crystals would be received on 11/17, and that integration into prebuit boards would go smoothly. AND that they would start shipping on Saturday. Five days ago, someone asked for a copy of the manual, and Eric stated that it was not ready for posting yet. I suggest patience. I ordered mine the day the web orders were activated. I am sure I'll hear when it's ready. I am also sure I will have instructions to use once the unit arrives. 73, Bruce N1RX ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi David,
- We're not quite shipping the K144XV yet. We have encountered several other new parts delays that were unexpected. A fallout of suppliers cutting their inventories in response to the recession is my guess. I don't enjoy getting blindsided like this. I just updated the status page this morning: --- K144 XV Status Latest Estimate - Starts Shipping 12/9 We've just received the crystals (as of 11/23), but several other parts are unexpectedly late from their suppliers. We expect several of these early next week (due to the Thanksgiving holiday 11/26-27) and the last parts late next week or early the following week. We apologize for the delay on this! --- I'll keep everyone updated as we get this out the door. 73, eric WA6HHQ David Pratt wrote: > According to the Shipping Status I see that the K144XV started shipping > last Saturday (11/21 US). > > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
This is a big issue for us. If delivery slips to 2010, which looks likely, I will have to pay more tax.

Is the tax rate in the UK increasing?
We'll make every effort to ship to you before end of Dec. 73, Eric AD6XY wrote: > This is a big issue for us. Yes, VAT was dropped to 15% last year for the recession. It goes back up in
January and I very much doubt it will be 17.5% as before! 73 Ian 2009/11/23 Eric Swartz - WA6HHQ, Elecraft <[hidden email]> > Is the tax rate in the UK increasing? > > We'll make every effort to ship to you before end of Dec. > > 73, Eric > > > AD6XY wrote: > > This is a big issue for us. What it will go up to after the election a few months later (regardless of which party wins) is quite another question... The reason for concern is that VAT is also applied to imported goods. The taxable amount is the bottom line of the invoice, including all shipping, handling and insurance costs. -- 73 from Ian GM3SEK ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

A request to everyone - not associated with the subject - I could not
make out who was saying what in this post below, nor could I find the new content readily. PLEASE - Use Top Posting - that way your response is at the top where everyone can take notice. IMHO, in-line comments should be reserved for special occasions where nothing else makes sense. I scrolled down through this post quickly and saw the "blue vertical lines" on all the text lines, so I would have to read the entire content over carefully to see what had been added. If you do not like top posting, then please edit the previous post to only a few relevant lines and add your thought/comments/etc. With the volume of traffic on this reflector, one should be able to find your comments quickly and decide whether to post a response or just "let it pass". I know "top posting" is not correct 'netiquette' in some circles, but this is the Elecraft reflector, and Eric has approved both top posting and bottom posting, although I wish he would encourage top posting more - it helps a lot when I am scanning the latest postings. 73, Don W3FPR Jan Holmer SM6TUW wrote: > > Bruce Beford-2 wrote: > >> David, G4DMP wrote: >> >> "According to the Shipping Status I see that the K144XV started shipping >> last Saturday (11/21 US)." >> >> "Would someone please point me to the on-line Manual?" >> >> That shipping status update on the Web page you refer to was as of October >> 27th. Jan,
The manual is being completed as we speak. It will certainly be made available as soon as possible. We had a number of supply-chain delays on this product, as well as a second prototyping phase. But things are now flowing smoothly, and I expect to see production units soon. I'm on the hook for some final firmware on the K3 side, putting me in the critical path, as usual. All I can say (other than to apologize for the delays) is that this unit rocks, and it will be worth the wait :) 73, Wayne N6KR Jan Holmer SM6TUW wrote: > Jan Holmer SM6TUW wrote: >> I also ordered minutes after the web orders were activated. How about a little patience. What difference does it make? The installation manual won't help much until we have it in our hot little hands anyway, and you can't use it 'till you have it.
The internet has turned us all into a bunch of impatient mean-spirited people who love to complain and hypothesize conspiracy -- me included :-) The website shows the estimated ship date as 12/9. Sounds like it will arrive about the time that Santa does ... Among other items, the manual requires pictures for installation of the
K144XV components in the K3. Its not just an operating manual. We go through a step by step installation process as we document the K11XV, and that requires all of the parts to be here before the manual is completed. Rather than use an early prototype, we want our manual pictures to match the production version. We've been shipping the needed items over to Ron as fast as possible as they have arrived here. Manual release is also dependent on what other projects the manual writer is working on. Its getting close and we'll post the manual as fast as we can. 73, Eric Jan Holmer SM6TUW wrote: > > Jan Holmer SM6TUW wrote: > >> I also ordered minutes after the web orders were activated. I bought a Droid Monday at a net price of $50.
I use it for email in IMAP mode so I can get through my email when I'm away from the computer (which is set for POP email). So I essentially use it to read and delete email before it hits my computer thus decreasing the email load at the computer. Easy to use. Paul N4LCD >I am also looking at the Droid. I owned 2 for about a week. Super WOW factor. And, during that time I
downloaded a ton of free apps which were really neat and a lot of fun. But in the end, I confirmed that the battery life sucks. I mean - really sucks. A couple of hours just goofing off with the thing ran the battery down, and yes, I did condition it like the book said to, so the capacity just isn't what it should be. In the end the real reason I took them back was that the phone just wasn't as easy to use as a phone should be. Too much other stuff and not enough phone. HOWEVER, if someone had sent this message to me before I got them, I would just disregard it. SO. What I recommend is that you get a free trial (Verizon offers 30 days with a no-questions-asked return policy). Then, make up your own mind. In that case, could I suggest you remove the requirement to trim replies
from your posting guidelines, as, in my experience, top posters will never trim replies. It is the process of doing a proper interleaved reply that leads to trimming. The real problem in the example that triggered this thread was over-quoting and failing to interleave point by point - pure bottom posting is also bad, although posting at the bottom because everything else after the post has bee trimmed out, is good. (Note that I read the digest on Thunderbird, and the lack of trimming is very annoying, as I have to page through the back thread, as well as the general increase in bandwidth and mail folder disk space.) Are there really no PDA email clients that follow the ancient technique of hiding lines beginning in ">"? Bad practice, like not trimming replies, quoting after ones own signature separator, and, in particular, not trimming signatures, follows. I.E. this is formatted according to de facto top posting rules. -- David Woolley "we do not overly restrict the subject matter on the list, and we encourage postings on a wide range of amateur radio related topics" List Guidelines <http://www.elecraft.com/elecraft_list_guidelines.htm> Eric Swartz - WA6HHQ, Elecraft wrote: > [re-post with more accurate subject line] > > Top posting is the official standard for this list, and its especially > important for those of us who also read our email on PDA phones. What is all this Droid stuff?
I am afraid the latest shipping date estimate of 16th December is just too late for all of us in the UK. The tax applies when it arrives, not when it was sent. So that is only 2.5% but the Dollar is going up again as well. I am wondering about cancelling. I have been thinking about it for a while. As far as I can tell there are no advantages over the XV144 at this time. The milliwatt output for driving microwave transverters is not in place yet. Mike |
