Hey, I'm just about to power-up my fully built K2/100
mod and... snapped the RED DC power connector onto the BLACK wire. This is the external DC power cable & connector. So, is there an easy way to extract the pin from the housing to reverse these? I've never seen this connector before and it doesn't look friendly to mods. 73, Steve N4SL __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - 250MB free storage. Do more. There is an extraction tool to do this, supplied with the Anderson Power
Pole kits. The tool is of thin steel, shaped (sort of half moon) to fit around the wire crimped in the power pole connector. It slipped in underneath the wire and connector releasing the retainer spring inside the plastic housing. You could then slide the wire and connector from the housing. You could try a stiff thin piece of steel or brass, if you can insert it, from the rear (wire side), in such a way to release the retainer, the connector will slide from the housing with a gentle tug. I have done that before. I used a small flat bladed srewdriver, carefully
lift theterminal end fromthe front of the connector were it snaps into the detent and carefully pull with wire out. 73, KI4DGH Chuck Gehring -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]]On Behalf Of Steve L. You can also use a small flat-blade jeweler's screwdriver from the front.
Carefully insert it under the hooked end and gently lift it up over that piece of flat spring steel that locks it in place. Once you get the contact's front lip lifted above the flat piece, you can gently tug it loose by the wire from the rear. I did this successfully this morning twice -- not enough coffee, and put the red wire in the black hole -- that's kinda like putting the round peg in the square hole on a psych test. I just use one of the small pocket screwdrivers to work up under the
very end of the connector and get it between the connector and the locking tab in the shell. Then pull on the wire from the back. Takes a little fiddling but it works for me.
