K2/100, computer control and CW

Patrick DalPorto
I am about to take a trip to Tanzania and have my call 5H9PD.  Now all I need is some advice on a computer program that will allow me to send CW and log contacts.  The Elecraft control software works and I can send CW with it but I have not been able to get any logging software to work so I can send CW.  I did get DXKeeper to computer control the K2 but not send CW so I can transmit and log.  Any suggestions?

Pat,

MixW sends CW, decodes CW, controls the rig and keeps a log.  N1MM
Logger sends CW, controls the rig and keeps a log.  I have used
both.  Both take some time to set up, but they will do the
job.  Write Log may do the same thing, I don't know.  I believe it
keys CW through a parallel interface.  It costs money.  Mix is
shareware and there is a onetime fee, and N1MM is free.

As it happens, a couple of weeks ago, I put up a web page with my
solution to this problem:

Ward,

Mice write up on the web site page.  I use a similar circuit but
with a 4N25.  I didn't have need of the 1 K resistor.  I also use the
same circuit for PPT, but the connections are different, as it does
not go to the key jack but the PTT on the mike jack.

Pat,

I've used N3FJP's ACLog for general logging and it keys my K2/100 just
fine. Ham Radio Deluxe is another possibility.

Let me echo Pat's question. So far all the answers have been for
programs that require an external interface for CW keying, and they
generate the CW themselves. The K2 has a very nice keyer built in,
and can generate CW itself very well in response to the Elecraft/
Kenwood command set "KY" computer commands. Note that unlike what is
stated on the N1MM web site, the KY command is common to both
Elecraft and Kenwood radios

So, are there any programs out that use the computer control facility
to send CW?

The question was:

"So, are there any programs out that use the computer control facility
        to send CW?"

Actually yes, and one of them is N3FJP's amateur contact log. If you do the
CW Setup, F12 is already labeled "KEYBOARD", which if I am not mistaken will
fill the need.
