K2 Bird

wes Bolin
With no antenna I have a weak bird at 14.221.5 +/-  .......Don't hear it on
my other
transceiver.  I changed from switching ps to Old School ps and no change.
Is this
normal?  BtW with my vertical antenna and present band conditions, it is
totally inaudible with the antenna connected.

Wes,

FYI, my K2, S/N 7225, also has a faint birdie in about the same spot, but only with the antenna hooked up, listening to "white" noise. There are several birdies in all bands with no antenna, but I can only hear most of them with the AF and RF Gain pots maxed out.

Most will disappear underneath a received signal (even noise), but there are a couple that are loud enough to hear with one. It's not been a problem for me.
