[K2] Displayed frequency question.

Gil G.
Hello,

When I listen to a station transmitting using CW on, say, 7030 (zero-beat), my displayed frequency is 7029.93.
When I transmit, the reverse beacon stations show me as being right on 7030 while my displayed frequency is 7029.93.
When I listen to SSB, station usually do sound perfectly clear at a displayed frequency 70Hz below their advertised frequency (nets).

Should I change my displayed frequency? To what? Am I off?
If I move the BFO frequency a bit, would I need to realign my filters?

Thanks!

Gil.

I am new to the Elecraft K2, I also have the same
problem except mine is reading up in frwquency
when I am tuned into 3.963.00 net my dial reading
is 3.963.21.  I double check net frequency with
my ft 920 and they are dead on 3.963.00.

I need help where to begin looking!

Thanks Bill W0WFH

Gil,

You will have to do CAL PLL and CAL FIL after properly setting the 4 MHz
reference oscillator Control Board C22.  The "magic" is in setting C22
properly.

To accomplish that, go to my website www.w3fpr.com and follow the
instructions given in the K2 Dial Calibration article.

Re: [K2] Displayed frequency question.

Andreas Hofmann-3
Gil and others,

I can just recommend to follow Don's article. It has worked very well for me.  What has worked best for me was to use the "N6KR method" to calibrate the reference oscillator (with WWV at 10Mhz).  I carried out about 4 iterations for matching the 2 frequencies between TP1 and TP2. At the end, I had to set both frequencies not to exactly the same frequency, but TP1 to -30Hz in order to get the most accurate frequency reading across all bands.  Note you cannot get closer than +-10Hz with the K2.

Thanks,
Andy, KU7T
